Milestone Collections are my favourite!!! But I am also a tad bit sad when it comes to the cake smash session…you become friends with these clients, seeing them every few months & spending time editing their sessions. I also enjoy watching these little people grow & change into their personalities…it makes you realize just how quickly a year flies by!!
Today’s blog feature is the Milestone Collection of Carley & Jordan….this collection starts off with a maternity session! Not only does this session allow us to capture precious images of you while expecting but is the perfect way for us to meet for the first time & become acquainted. It’s important to meet the person that will be handling your newborn during your session & trust them with your memories!
Carley is a photographer herself & it’s always a little bit of a booster to your confidence when another creative asks to you to document their memories! She had some wonderful original ideas for their maternity session!!
Once your maternity session is completed, the real work begins for me! Session images are carefully selected & enhanced plus delivered to clients in about 3 weeks.
Carley & Jordan welcomed a baby boy to their family…Rowan!! They chose to have a studio newborn session but Milestone clients are able to choose a Fresh 48, in home or studio newborn session. Studio sessions are booked 7 - 12 days after birth, during this time your newborn still loves to be wrapped, snuggled, curled into poses & sleepy…perfect for posing in props!
Again, your images are carefully selected & enhanced, these images may take a little longer than maternity sessions but are generally delivered within 3 weeks.
Your next session is the Sitter Session, many clients are a little confused as to when this session is…whenever your little one is securely sitting on their own. I used to have this session as soon as baby turned 6 months but found they are rarely sitting securely, they then have to be propped up on something which made them look uncomfortable & parents plus myself were extra vigilant trying to catch them if they toppled over!
Generally, this sessions are scheduled around the 7th or 8th month…this is were you see the most change in them!! Look how much little Rowan had changed!! He was full of smiles & loved the camera!!
In a blink of an eye…they have turned one!!! It always unbelievable how quickly a year goes by…makes you stop to think about how quickly your own children have grown!!
I am always thrilled when clients decide to include family images into their final session!! You can never have enough family photos!! Luckily we have a decent day for their cake smash birthday & were able to photograph these memories outside.
Carley had a vision for Rowan’s cake smash & brought all the decorations!! I just love her vision for her sessions!! Rowan had a wonderful time enjoying his birthday cake!! I always fore warn clients, to not be surprised if their little one isn’t crazy about their cake! It’s a lot for them to take in…plus they aren’t usually used to having such a big food item all to themselves!! It’s always recommended clients bring along some of their favourite snacks…goldfish, puff snacks or Cheerios to add to the back of the cake. Baby can then pick off their fav snack & will quickly venture onto the cake itself.
Generally, the cake smash becomes a hit & 99% of the time the cake is more on them then eaten!! We finish with a quick bath in the sink, which also makes for some amazing memories!! Thank you to Carley & Jordan for trusting me to capture these precious memories of Rowan!!
